What makes The Seasoned Farmhouse a “Recreational Cooking School”?
The Seasoned Farmhouse is founded on the idea that the kitchen is the heart of the home and the garden is a place of comfort and joy. Our classes are designed for home cooks, not professional chefs. We have designed the curriculum to help you learn new skills from hands-on classes to demonstrations - we want you to cook with confidence, not fear!
What if I don’t have much experience?
If a class interests you, we encourage you to try it! We welcome anyone who wants to equip him or herself with new skills and information.
Where should I park?
Parking is available on High Street in front of the school, except from 4 – 6 p.m. weekdays. You are also encouraged to park in the lot behind the school; we allow double parking for larger classes. You may also park on Brevoort Rd. or Glencoe Rd.
Are your classes affordable?
We want everyone to have the opportunity to come engage their curiosity, so our costs range from $20 to $75. All prices are listed with the individual classes. Our hands-on classes require more materials and tend to cost more than the demonstration style classes, although variations in cost also reflect ingredient costs. Several of our classes include an optional additional $5 fee for wine pairings.
How long are your classes?
Classes range from 1.5 hours to 3 hours depending on class type. Hands on classes typically last longer than our demonstration classes.
How many students will be in my class?
There may be up to 12 students in hands-on classes, and up to 25 in the demo classes. Private event classes can accommodate 30 – 40 students depending on format.
Are there class age restrictions?
Because we believe food is something that should involve the whole family, we provide several kids classes taught by Carolyn Diamond, who has 20 years of experience teaching children. Our adult classes are also open to students aged 16 – 17 who come with an adult chaperone.
What is included in the registration cost?
You will receive a copy of every recipe used in your class, as well as the opportunity to try the food prepared. The amount of food provided, from tastings to full meals, varies by class and will be noted in the class description. Flavored water and our signature Seasoned Farmhouse iced tea are included, as well as wine and other alcohol when specified in the description.
What will be served during my class?
All our menus are comprised of delicious, wholesome food that inspires us. Some of our seasonal classes will feature whatever food we find that week at the market, but most of the classes have specific menus listed in their descriptions so you’ll know exactly what to expect.
Do you accommodate dietary restrictions?
We want to be as accommodating as possible, but know that our kitchen is not nut, dairy, egg, or gluten free. Please make sure to note any food allergies or dietary restrictions in the comment section of your registration and we will do our best to accommodate you. Classes that are specifically gluten free will be noted in the class description.

What is your cancellation policy?
The Seasoned Farmhouse has a no refund policy for cancellations. However, with a three or more day notice, we can transfer you to another class or give you credit for future classes at The Seasoned Farmhouse. If you must cancel within three days of class, you may substitute a friend or family member in your place.
